My name is Greg Shafer and this blog will serve as a record of my life in The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan during the summer of 2010. I will be studying Arabic at the Qassid Institute in Amman, Jordan and living, writing, and working with other international students from America and Jordan.

Project
Our class had to submit a group project back to Cal State San Bernardino for their banquet. This is what we submitted.
Greg - This is amazing! I'm curious about why there is no footage of women being surveyed. Would your group have a problem with me showing this in my classroom? I'm very proud of you and the work you are doing and I want to share! Keep up the great work! ~Gretchen
Hey Gretchen! Thanks! About the women; while I do believe some women were surveyed, most of the women here are very conservative and are not comfortable with attention from strangers. Especially if she is alone. Also, for one of the male students to approach a female Jordanian without knowing her or her family would be extremely culturally insensitive. I think some of our female students did ask some female Jordanians, but I don't think any of them consented to be video taped.
